The World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS) is jointly sponsored by
China Association for
Science and
Technology (CAST) and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, with the vision of
promoting a
Community with a Shared Future for Mankind. Themed "Converging the World's Talents, Creating
a Better
Future," it has been held for five consecutive sessions. In 2019, President Xi Jinping sent
a
congratulatory letter to the first Summit, pointing out that "the future of science and
technology is
dependent on the young." In 2020, UN Secretary General António Guterres sent a letter to the
young
scientists attending the WYSS.
The WYSS is devoted to building an open exchange platform for more young scientists to
exchange ideas,
learn from each other, and realize their dreams. Over the past five years, the WYSS has
established
exchanges and contacts with over 100 countries, international science and technology
organizations, and
over 200 universities. It has invited over 30 Nobel Prize laureates, Turing Award laureates,
and other
top scientists from around the world, nearly 400 academicians and over 5,600 representatives
of young
scientists, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists to attend the Summit.
