Exploring “AI for Science”: The First "WAYS+ Youth" Academic Salon Held in Wenzhou
On March 21, 2025, the First WAYS+ Youth Academic Salon took place at the WAYS Livingroom, located on the 21st floor of Hilton 339 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China.
Hosted by the World Association of Young Scientists (WAYS) and the Wenzhou World Young Scientists Growth Foundation, the event brought together nearly 20 young scientists, technology experts, and innovators from academia and industry to discuss the applications and future development of AI in scientific research under the theme of "AI for Science." The event was hosted by Deputy Secretary-General Wang Jia from the World Association of Young Scientists.
Four distinguished speakers from the United States and China delivered insightful keynote speeches.
Professor Zengchang Qin from Beihang University explored how AI is transforming traditional education, reshaping learning models, and enhancing personalized learning experiences.
Professor Jiayue Sun from Northeastern University discussed the synergistic development of computing power and energy in her report, analyzing the optimization of computational resources and energy supply for sustainable growth.
Research Fellow Zhipeng Zhang from China Mobile Research Institute shared insights into AI research in enterprises, addressing both opportunities and challenges in real-world AI applications.
Associate Professor Omar Dib from Wenzhou-Kean University discussed the future of AI in healthcare, showcasing groundbreaking AI applications in medical diagnostics, blockchain security, and smart healthcare.
During the interactive discussion session, participants engaged in lively conversations about the opportunities and challenges of AI in scientific research, industry, and society. Many agreed that AI is becoming a crucial driving force for technological progress, continuously reshaping various fields, and that interdisciplinary collaboration will be key to the future of AI-driven scientific research. The event concluded with enthusiastic exchanges and a group photo.
Moving forward, WAYS will continue to host the WAYS+ salon series, fostering global intellectual exchange, inspiring innovation, and providing an open and diverse platform for young scientists to collaborate and share ideas.
