Scientific Leadership and International Cooperation : Forum on International Scientific Organization Cooperation and Exchange Successfully Convened
On November 15, the World Association of Young Scientists (WAYS) held the Forum on International Scientific Organization Cooperation and Exchange in Wenzhou with the support of the International Science Council. Chaoyang Lu, Chairperson of WAYS,Chunbo Gao, Vice Chairperson and Secretary-General of WAYS,Gabriela Ivan, Membership Development Officer of the International Science Council, and Chandra Shekhar Sharma, Co-Chair of the Global Young Academy delivered the keynote address at the conference. Over 60 initial member representatives from the World Association of Young Scientists, along with representatives from the International Science Council and other international scientific organizations, attended the forum.
Currently, a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is deeply evolving, and technological innovation has entered an unprecedented period of intense activity. Scientific and technological progress is a global and timely issue, and only through open cooperation can we find the right path forward.
With the theme of "Empowering Young Scientists, Strengthening International Cooperation," this forum focused on topics such as "International Engagement of Young Scientists," "Scientific Leadership," and "Cross-Regional International Collaboration." The discussions aimed to empower young scientists globally, contributing to scientific innovation and development worldwide.
Chaoyang Lu emphasized that WAYS aims to unite the strength of young scientists to address global challenges. He further highlighted the commitment to building a dynamic and inclusive platform in collaboration with member institutions and partners. This platform will foster innovation, promote international cooperation, and empower young scientists with leadership capabilities to tackle the pressing issues of our time. The association aspires to become a driving force for scientific excellence and global progress.
Chunbo Gao stated,Young scientists are driving the frontier of scientific and technological innovation, and they represent the future. Looking ahead, the World Association of Young Scientists will foster global connections, establishing dynamic platforms for collaborations. These efforts will accelerate the translation of research into real world applications, bringing more innovations to life. Together, let us harness the strength of young scientists, go beyond the boundaries, and make a better future for everyone!
Gabriela Ivan provided an overview of ISC’s development, areas of work, membership, and international cooperation projects. She hope to collaborate with WAYS in the future on training capacity modules with scientific exchanges, participation of young scientists to international events. Additionally, she emphasized that the world is facing numerous sustainability challenges and conflicts, making it more crucial than ever to have scientific organizations that can build bridges of dialogue and collaboration. Science is such a powerful tool of bringing people together, so we can find common solutions for the challenges we're facing.
Chandra Shekhar Sharma delivered a speech on Nurturing Next Generation of Scientific Leaders, highlighting that the interconnected nature of the world and complex global challenges influences science to become interdisciplinary. Modern science requires highly integrated and interactive team under a strong leadership to achieve and sustain the success of research. Additionally, Scientific leaders are needed to drive the integration of science into the wider world in a way that places science in a more influential position to help change the world for the better.
From concept to practice, from cross-disciplinary dialogue to broad collaboration, young scientists continuously spark a "synergistic effect," infusing global scientific and technological development with a sustained flow of vitality.
